The current situation and inspiration of cultivating personnel for cleaning and disinfecting digestive endoscopes in China

Abstract

Abstract: Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment play a crucial role in gastrointestinal diseases, but with the widespread use of endoscopy, the risk of hospital infection caused by improper reprocessing is also increasing. Due to the complex structure of endoscopes, their inability to withstand high temperatures, numerous processes involved in reprocessing, and cumbersome procedures, the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes has become a recognized challenge for medical institutions. Endoscopic cleaning and disinfection personnel play a very important role in the process of endoscopic reprocessing. The ability and quality of this group of people are closely related to the qualification rate of endoscopic reprocessing. However, the qualification rate of endoscopic reprocessing varies in different regions of China. Therefore, this article reviews the composition, continuing education, and job certification of endoscopic cleaning and disinfection personnel in order to provide reference for the cultivation of digestive endoscopic cleaning and disinfection personnel, and further improve the qualification rate of endoscopic reprocessing.
