Abstract: Objective To study the feasibility of NT - pro BNP concentration and the pulmonary artery pressure as the objective indicator of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation of heart failure due to chronic pulmonary heart disease. Methods 100 cases of heart failure due to chronic pulmonary heart disease were divided into groups according to TCM syndrome differentiation. The NT - pro BNP concentration and the pulmonary artery pressure were also observed. The difference between TCM syndrome type and NT-pro BNP concentration or the pulmonary artery pressure was studied using the statistical software SPSS 16.0 software. Results There was a statistical significance difference between TCM syndrome type and NT - pro BNP concentration or the pulmonary artery pressure. Conclusion Plasma NT - pro BNP concentration and pulmonary artery pressure likely become the objective indicator of TCM syndrome differentiation of heart failure due to chronic pulmonary heart disease.

Key words: heart failure due to chronic pulmonary heart disease, TCM syndrome type, NT-pro BNP, pulmonary artery pressure
