A meta-analysis of the effects and safety of montelukast sodium in treating mycopeasmae pneumonia in children

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of montelukast sodium in treating mycopeasmae pneumonia in children and provide reasonable medication and clinical basis for the treatment of mycoplasma pneumonia in children.Methods The related articles selected from Tosearch cnki, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, EMbase from 2000 to 2013, according to the inclusion criteria, were selected and evaluated. All data were meta-analyzed using RevMan 5.1 software. Results 5 RCT were selected according to the inclusion criteria, the results of meta-analysis showed that: disappearance time of patients’ fever, cough, wheezing, and pulmonary rales of observation group was shorter than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion According to the available data, montelukast sodium has definite clinical efficacy and safety in the treatment of of mycopeasmae pneumonia in children. However, due to poor quality and small sample size of included studies, it is necessary to carry out more high-quality clinical trials to verify this result.
