Clinical study on conventional therapy with auricular point sticking for chronic prostatitis

Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of conventional therapy with auricular point sticking in treating chronic prostatitis. Methods Eighty-four patients with chronic prostatitis were randomized into treatment group and control group (42 in each group). The treatment group was intervened by oral conventional medical therapy (such as antibiotics and/or Tamsulosin) with auricular point sticking, and the control group was given by oral antibiotics and/or Tamsulosin. Therapeutic efficacies were compared between the groups. Results The total effective rate was 85.72% in the treatment group versus 52.17% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion The clinical efficacy of conventional therapy with auricular point sticking in treating chronic prostatitis is definite and significant, which can improve the whole quality of life and the psychological barrier of the patient.
