Abstract: Objective To assess the efficacy of different concentration mitomycin C (MMC) in treating patients with II-III styles chronic suppurative sinusitis to find out an effective method for using MMC. Methods 420 cases with II-III styles chronic suppurative sinusitis were randomized to group A and group B. The patients in group A were used 0.2 g/L MMC in operation, group B used 0.4 g/L MMC in operation. All patients had follow-up study with the time of 18-30 months(20.5±1.02 months) postoperatively. Results In group A,186 cases were cured, the cure rate was 88.6%, nasal cavity adhesion were 24 cases, invalid rate was 11.4%. In group B, 202 cases were cured, the cure rate was 96.2%, nasal cavity adhesion were 8 cases, invalid rate was 3.8%. Conclusion Intraoperative MMC seems to be a safe and effective procedure and can decrease nasal cavity adhesion.
