Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effects of chlorine-containing disinfectant on TB sputum preprocessed by pancreatic enzyme. Methods 116 samples from sputum smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients collected from outpatient service were randomly divided into the control group and treatment group. 58 samples of TB sputum in treatment group were preprocessed by 5%pancreatic enzyme disinfector, then to 84 disinfector of containing 5 000 mg/L chlorine. The 58 samples in control group, were directly processed by 84 disinfector of containing 5 000 mg/L chlorine. After 0.5 h, 1 h and 2 h of the treatment, the positive rates of mycobacterium tuberculosis of each sputum samples were comparatively analyzed. Results The positive rates of mycobacterium tuberculosis of 0.5 h, 1 h and 2 h in control group were 100%, 88%and 100%respectively. After pretreatment of pancreatic enzyme, the positive rates of 0.5 h, 1 h and 2 h in treatment group were 62%, 14%and 0 respectively. Conclusion The pretreatment of pancreatic enzyme on sputum of pulmonary tuberculosis patients can obviously promote the disinfectant effects. It should be actively promoted in disinfectants on TB sputum.
