Abstract: Objective To study the value of clinical application of detection of serum cystatin C(Cysc), hemocysteine(Hcy) in judgement of renal damage of patients with early diabetic nephropathy(DN). Methods According to 24 h urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER), 142 patients with diabetes mellitus(DM) were divided into three groups, including simple diabetes mellitus(SDM), early diabetic nephropathy(EDN) and clinical diabetic nephropathy(CDN) group. Results There were significant differences among the four groups considering the concentration of CysC and Hcy(F=180.273, P<0.05. F=117.064, P<0.05). There were no signiifcant differences between SDM and NC groups connecting the concentration of CysC and Hcy(P>0.05). There were signiifcant differences between EDN, CDN and NC groups connecting the concentration of CysC and Hcy(P<0.05). There was an increased trend in the concentration of CysC and Hcy in the groups of SDM, EDN and CDN. There were signiifcant differences between the groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The combined detection of CysC and Hcy were sensitve indicators in judgement of early renal damage of DN patients, At the same time, they could be used as a monitoring index in patients with DN.
