Abstract: Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary subject that develops and utilizes engineering techniques to solve biomedical problems. It integrates the knowledge in numerous fields such as biology, medicine, engineering and many others with the aim of solving the main problems in biomedicine by developing new technologies and tools. This article collects and summarizes the available Nobel prizes related to biomedical engineering. From the perspective of the most famous academic award, the most important works of these Nobel laureates are regarded as the milestones during the development of biomedical engineering. The analysis enlightens the future developments of research direction and education planning in biomedical engineering.
