Abstract: Objective To investigate the self-perceived burden of elderly stroke patients and analyze its influencing factors. Methods 317 elderly stroke patients in a tertiary hospital of Baoding were investigated with general questionnaire, self-perceived burden scale(SPBS), stroke self-efficacy questionnaire(SSEQ), perceived social support from family scale(PSS-Fa). Ordinal logistic regression was used to identify the risk factors for self-perceived burden. Results The mean score of self-perceived burden was(26.54±10.05), 69.40% of patients had self-perceived burden. Specifically, mild, moderate, and severe self-perceived burden accounted for 29.34%, 27.13%, and 12.93%, respectively. Ordinal logistic regression analysis indicated that the ones with course of diseases≤ one month, good health of caregivers, self efficacy and perceived high level of family support had milder self-perceived burden; while those with monthly housed income≤¥2 000 had more severe self-perceived burden. Conclusion The incidence of self-perceived burden in elderly stroke patients is high, poor economic status, long course of diseases, general health status of caregivers, lower self-efficacy and family support level may be the risk factors of self-perceived burden of elderly stroke patients.
