Abstract: Objective To discuss the clinical effects of continued and interrupted closed thoracic drainage treating pure tuberculous pleurisy. Methods Patients with moderate and above effusion of tuberculosis pleurisy were chosen as research objects. On the basis of conventional anti tuberculosis treatments both groups were applied continuous closed drainage of thoracic firstly till the drainage volume was less than 500 mL/d.Then the patients in the experimental group were treated with closed thoracic drainage while the control group were applied interrupted closed thoracic drainage, and the therapeutic efficacy and long-term complications in both groups were observed respectively. Results Continuous closed thoracic drainage had significant effects in treating a little amount of tuberculous pleural effusion which was better than interrupted closed thoracic drainage, the incidence rate of long-term complications such as pleural hypertrophy, adhesions and encapsulated empyema in the experimental group were smaller than that in the control group, and the difference was of statically significance(P<0.05).Conclusion Continuous closed thoracic drainage on the treatment of small amount of tuberculous pleural effusion has significant curative effects and less sequelae. It is worthy to be applied in clinical practices.
