Abstract: Objective To study the expression of Nupr1(including mRNA and protein)in breast cancers and explore the relationship between Nupr1 expression and the clinical/pathological characteristics in breast cancer. Methods The expression of Nupr1 protein was detected with immunohistochemistry in 228 cases of breast cancer and 60 cases of benign breast lesions as control group. The expression of Nupr1 mRNA was detected with real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR. The relationships between Nupr1 expression and clinical pathological characteristics of breast cancer were analyzed. Results The level of Nupr1 protein and mRNA in breast cancer showed high expression, which tended to be consistent. The high expression rate of Nupr1 in breast cancer was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). The high expression rate of Nupr1 was significantly correlated with breast cancer stage and molecular type(P<0.05), but not with menstrual state, histological type, histological grade and tumor size(P>0.05). Conclusion The expressionof Nupr1 mRNA in benign breast lesions-precancerous breast lesions-breast cancer is increasing gradually. It is speculated that Nupr1 may play an important role in the occurrence and progression of breast cancer. The consistent expression of Nupr1 at mRNA level and protein level suggested that Nupr1 plays an important role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. The high expression of Nupr1 is related to poor prognosis. The detection of Nupr1 expression can be used as breast cancer detection The useful indexes of cancer prognosis can provide new ideas for tumor targeted therapy.
