Abstract: Objective To discuss the correlation between blood glucose fluctuation and prognosis of severe cerebral hemorrhage patients. Methods 58 patients with severe cerebral hemorrhage were selected as subjects. The clinical characteristics of all the patients were analyzed, such as mechanical ventilation, days of hospitalization , acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) score. Those patients were divided into two groups: survival group (n=41) and death group (n=17). Initial blood glucose, blood glucose value, mean number of blood glucose, standard deviation of blood glucose and variation coefficient of blood glucose were recorded. Standard deviation and variation coefficient of blood glucose were used as glucose variability index to explore the correlation between blood glucose fluctuation and death. Results Mechanical ventilation, days of hospitalization, APACHE II score in death group were higher than the control group (P<0.05). Standard deviation and variation coefficient of blood glucose in death group were significantly higher than that of the survival group(P<0.05). Conclusion Blood glucose fluctuation and severe cerebral hemorrhage in the patients may be closely correlated with prognosis.

Key words: blood glucose fluctuation, cerebral hemorrhage, death
