Effects of blue LED on the function of the liver regeneration in rats

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of blue light-emitting diodes(LED) on the liver regeneration in rats with hepatic lobes ligation. Methods 24 SD rats were randomly divided into three groups:Sham group, Model group and LED group. The model was established by ligating partial Liver.The rats of the LED group were shined by LED 30 minutes every day. The serum ALT and AST levels at different time points were measured. After 4 weeks, the weight of liver and rats were measured respectively. Results Compared with Sham group, the results of liver function:ALT, AST markedly increased in model rats(P<0.05) in the ifrst week. There was not any difference in ALT and AST between three groups. The ratio of the total weight of liver to body weight was higher than that of the model group lightened blue light than that in other groups(P<0.05). Conclusion Blue LED can promote liver regeneration and the recovery of the function of liver after ligating partial hepaticlobes.
