Qualitative research on learning experience of medical students' professional accomplishment education based on palliative medicine

Abstract: Objective To explore the learning experience of medical students on the teaching mode of professional accomplishment education based on palliative medicine.Methods The semi-structured interview method was adopted to interview 12 medical undergraduates who participated in this course.The data were analyzed with Colaizzi 7-step analysis method.Results Five themes were extracted from the learning experience of medical students,namely,enhanced altruism;enhanced professional values;increasing knowledge and learning ability;improving recognition of the concept of death and developing empathy ability.Conclusion The professional accomplishment education based on palliative medicine is beneficial to improve medical students' professional values,enhance their learning ability and initiative,then improve their professional accomplishment.
