Abstract: Objective To investigate the carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)in middle-aged and young patients of cerebral infarction (CI) with sleep apnea-hypopnea (SA). Methods 80 middle-aged and young patients of CI were divided into two groups, only CI group (40 cases)) and CI combined with SA group (cases 40).All patients were checked carotid artery through color doppler ultrasound and record intima-media thickness(IMT) and the state of plaques. Results The IMT of middle-aged and young patients in CI combined with SA group and in only CI group were (1.335±0.219)mm,(1.088±0.202)mm respectively, the degree of IMT in CI combined with SA group was significantly higher than that in only CI group (P<0.01).The rate of plaque occurrence in CI combined with SA group and in only CI group were 75%,25% respectively, the rate of plaque occurrence in CI combined with SA group was significantly higher than that in only CI group (P<0.01).The rate of unstable plaque occurrence in CI combined with SA group and in only CI group were 71%,30% respectively, the rate of unstable plaque occurrence in CI with SA group was significantly higher than that in only CI group (P<0.05). Conclusion There is higher degree of carotid artery atherosclerosis in the middle-aged and young patients of CI combined with SA group than that of only CI group.
