There was a difference in the rate of current smoking between males(22.3%)and females(0.17%)(P<0.001). About the current smoking rate in male students, it had a tendency of getting worse in the higher grades(P<0.001). The passive smoking rate was 24.6%in 2 267 non-smokers, and the male students had a higher rate of passive smoking than female students(P<0.001). Their knowledge was limited although they had known a certain points about the harm of tobacco exposure. 38.2%of the students were disgusted very much with passive smoking, but only 16.3%of them would take the initiative to discourage the smokers from smoking. Conclusion Smoking and passive smoking among college students was popular. Their ability of refusing to smoke was weak.
