Objective To investigate SLC5A8 gene’s transcription level of mRNA and its methylation status in colorectal cancer. Methods Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR and methylation specific PCR method(MSP)were used to detect the transcription level of SLC5A8 gene’s mRNA and the methylation level of SLC5A8 gene in 40 cases of colorectal cancer tissues and adjacent tissues. Results The rate of transcription level of SLC5A8 gene’s mRNA in colorectal cancer rate was significantly lower than that in tumor adjacent tissues(χ
2
=16.241,P<0.05),the positive rate of SLC5A8 gene methylation in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues(χ
2
=32.237,P<0.05),the transcription level of this gene’s mRNA was negatively correlated with its methylation status. The correlation coefficient was 0.875.Conclusion SLC5A8 gene methylation can significantly reduce the expression of the gene, which may be associated with the occurrence of colorectal cancer.

Myriads of studies indicate that sperm with severe head morphological abnormalities is closely associated with low fertilization, implantation and pregnancy rate.Selecting high quality sperm used for ART(assisted reproductive techniques)is an effective way to improve the clinic outcome.A normal sperm selected under a optical microscope with low magnification(×200)could contain some ultrastructural defects, which may result in fertilization failure or arrest of embryonic development after ICSI(Intracytoplasmic sperm injection). However, intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection(IMSI)shows the perfect match between ICSI and MSOME(Motile sperm organelles morphology examination),which can evaluate the quality of sperm morphology and cherry-pick sperm with none or less vacuole for microinjection to increase the rates of fertilization, implantation and pregnancy,as well as decrease the abortion rate. The examination is performed using a differential interference contrast microscopy and digital imaging technologyto achieve a magnification up to 6 600×.This review mainly focus on the development history of IMSI techniques, its application in optimal selection of sperm and analysis of clinical outcomes, which will provide some theoretical directions to its application popularization and further development.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is one of the most common chronic liver diseases.Although the incidence rate of NAFLD is rising rapidly in our country, effective clinical treatment is still lacking.Due to the close anatomical and functional relationship between the gut and the liver, emerging evidence suggests an important role of gut microbiota in the initiation and progression of NAFLD.Altered gut microbiota due to environmental factors can lead to liver damage. Results of animal studies strongly support the protective effect of probiotics against NAFLD.Currently, there is only a small number of randomized controlled clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness of probiotics on NAFLD treatment;nonetheless, findings show intake of probiotics can improve symptoms of the disease.More multi-centre large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed in order to provide evidence for clinical application of probiotics.
