Abstract: Objective To explore the status of health information literacy of medical students in a university in Hebei province, and analyze the influencing factors to provide a basis for the development of health education in universities and the formulation of intervention measures to improve health information literacy of medical students. Methods A self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate the medical students in a university in Hebei province. Results The mean score of health information literacy was 114.21±10.58. The total score of their health information literacy was significantly different in different places of family residence, parental education and family economic status(P<0.05). Medical students whose families live in cities had higher cognitive ability, acquisition ability and evaluation ability of health information(P<0.05). Gender, major and grade had an impact on medical students' ability to obtain health information(P<0.05). Conclusion The health information literacy level of medical students is affected by family residence, gender, grade, major, parents' education level and family economic status, so comprehensive measures should be taken to improve the health information literacy level of medical students.
