Hematological malignancies are a group of heterogeneous diseases originating from the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, characterized fundamentally by malignant clonal proliferation and differentiation arrest. Clinically, there are often significant challenges of poor prognosis and high risk of recurrence. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death driven by lipid peroxidation, has been confirmed to be closely related to the pathogenesis, progression, and therapeutic response of hematological malignancies. This article systematically reviews the molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis. It focuses on the research developments of hematological malignancies represented by leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, and lymphoma through the regulation of ferroptosis-related genes and pathways in order to provide a theoretical foundation for a deeper understanding of the disease process and the development of targeted treatment strategies.

Heart failure is a syndrome characterized by impaired ventricular filling and/or ejection function, often caused by various cardiac structures or functional impairments. The cardiac output cannot meet the metabolic needs of body tissues, resulting in pulmonary and/or systemic congestion, as well as inadequate blood perfusion to organs and tissues. Heart failure affects approximately 64 million people worldwide. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the treatment of heart failure in various fields such as internal and external medicine, from the “Golden Triangle” to the “New Four Links” and then to the “Five Golden Flowers”. From “heart transplantation” to “cardiac resynchronization therapy” and then to “left ventricular assist device”. By referring to existing clinical research and practice, we mainly summarize effective measures for the prevention and treatment of heart failure(mainly chronic heart failure), providing reference for clinical doctors.

Objective To investigate the correlation between radiographic changes and clinical outcomes after supramalleolar osteotomy(SMOT)for varus ankle osteoarthritis(AA). Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 23 patients(24 feet)with varus AA treated with SMOT between January 2019 and August 2023. There were 9 males(9 feet)and 14 females(15 feet), with a mean age of 57.94 years. Radiographic parameters were compared preoperatively and at final follow-up. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS)score and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)for pain. Correlations between radiographic parameters and AOFAS/VAS scores, as well as between changes in radiographic parameters and final scores, were analyzed. Results The mean follow-up was 15.25±3.07 months. All radiographic parameters, AOFAS, and VAS scores showed significant improvement postoperatively(P<0.01). The mean AOFAS score were improved to 81.31±2.73, and VAS decreased to 1.93±0.29. Pearson analysis revealed that medial clear space(MCS)was significantly correlated with AOFAS and VAS scores both preoperatively and at final follow-up(P<0.05). Changes in tibial articular surface angle(TAS)and MCS were significantly correlated with clinical outcomes(P<0.01). Conclusion SMOT provides satisfactory mid-term outcomes for varus AA. Changes in TAS and MCS are important indicators for evaluating clinical efficacy, with greater changes associated with better outcomes.

Objective To investigate the current status of communication competence between undergraduate nursing students and the elderly and analyze the influencing factors. Methods A total of 364 nursing undergraduates from a medical college in Tianjin were selected by stratified sampling from December 2024 to January 2025. General information questionnaire, Self-Rating Scale of Communication Competence between Nursing Students and the Elderly, Extraversion-Introversion Personality Scale, and Emotional Intelligence Scale were used for the survey. Multiple linear regression analysis was adopted to identify the influencing factors of communication competence between nursing undergraduates and the elderly. Results The communication competence score of 364 undergraduate nursing students with the elderly was 80.05±8.43. The communication competence was positively correlated with the total score of emotional intelligence(P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that whether having studied communication skills courses, personality traits, and emotional intelligence were the influencing factors of communication competence between undergraduate nursing students and the elderly(P<0.05), explaining 20.30% of the total variance. Conclusion The communication competence of nursing undergraduates with the elderly is at a medium to high level. Nursing educators should first clarify the relevant influencing factors of this competence, and then adopt appropriate intervention methods to further improve nursing students' communication ability with the elderly group.

Objective To explore the application effect of routine education, gain-based framework healtheducation and loss-based framework health education in fall prevention of hospitalized elderly patients. Methods Ninety-six elderly patients who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Ward of a tertiary hospital in Baoding city from July to August 2025 were selected as study subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups: the control group implemented conventional health education; to further clarify the impacts of the gain framework and loss framework, the intervention group was divided into the gain-framing group and the loss-framing group. The gain framework group added gain framework theory-guided health education on a conventional basis; and the loss framework group combined loss framework theory intervention on a conventional basis, comparing the fall alertness and fall self-efficacy scores of patients in the three groups before and after the intervention. There were 2 cases of loss of visits in the control group and 1 case of loss of visits in the loss framework group during the intervention period. Results Falls alertness was significantly increased in all three groups of patients after the intervention compared with the pre-intervention period(P<0.05), in which the alertness and falls self-efficacy scores were higher in the gain-framing group and loss-framing group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05), and the loss-framing group was better than that of the gain-framing group in improving falls alertness and self-efficacy, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Conclusion The health education program designed based on the theory of information frame effect can effectively enhance the fall prevention awareness and self-management ability of elderly inpatients, and the loss frame-oriented intervention strategy is more advantageous.
