Association between CHI3L1 expression levels and four cardiovascular diseases: a two-sample Mendelian randomization study

Abstract: Objective To investigate whether there is a causal relationship between Chitinase-3-like protein 1(CHI3L1)and four cardiovascular diseases(hypertensive heart disease, heart failure, coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction). Methods This study employed a two-sample Mendelian randomization approach, using inverse-variance weighted, weighted median, and MR-Egger methods for effect estimation. Results All analytical methods showed that there was no significant genetic evidences supporting a causal role of CHI3L1 in the four cardiovascular diseases(P>0.05). Conclusion This study does not provide that genetic evidences could result in a causal role of CHI3L1 in the development of cardiovascular diseases.
