Myopia is a common disease in the population, and its incidence is increasing year by year, especially in children and adolescents, seriously affecting their physical and mental health. Binocular vision refers to that two eyes see at the same time, while external objects fall on the retina, forming retinal images, nerve excitatory transmission go to the brain higher center, so that the visual signals of two eyes merge into a single perceptual object. When viewing stereoscopic objects, due to the difference of normal pupil distance and the angle of faxation, the images formed on the retina of the two eyes are not completely symmetrical and have certain horizontal difference. This phenomenon is called Binocular Parallax, which gives us stereoscopic perception. Many studies have shown that binocular vision functions such as accommodation, convergence, stereoscopic vision and the development of myopia interact. The purpose of this article is to review the developments of binocular vision function and myopia in order to provide reference for the prevention and control of myopia to choose effective and appropriate programs.

The key role of Nrf2 in ischemic stroke
    ZHU Jianping, LI Yunman
Journal of Hebei Medical College for Continuing Education    2022, 39 (2): 1-9.   DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1674-490X.2022.02.001
    Abstract347)      PDF(pc) (693KB)(246)       Save
Ischemic stroke is one of the main causes of death and disability worldwide. Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)is an important transcription factor that regulates the balance of the body's redox reaction. It participates in resisting endogenous or exogenous stress by coordinating a variety of cytoprotective genes. The Nrf2 signaling pathway not only strictly regulates the body's redox homeostasis, but also participates in the regulation of multiple processes in the body metabolism. Therefore, targeting Nrf2 has become a potential strategy for the prevention and treatment of central nervous system diseases including ischemic stroke. In this review, we first introduced the structural features of Nrf2 and Kelch-like ECH-related protein 1(Keap1), and briefly described the activation and regulation of the Nrf2 pathway. Next, we discussed the pathological and physiological mechanism, upstream regulators and downstream targets of the Nrf2 pathway. In this context, we extended the discussion to the role of Nrf2 after ischemic stroke and explored potential therapeutic directions.

Macular edema, often accompanied by retinal vein occlusion, is also a major cause of vision loss in patients with the disease. At present, there are many treating approaches for the patients with retinal vein occlusion combined with macular edema. Each method has its different effects due to the individual differences of the patients. To date, different treatment schemes are conducted according to the patients' own conditions, and most of them are combined with several treatment methods. By consulting relevant literatures and personal experience in the process of treating patients, the author summarizes and discusses the prospects of the treatment methods, curative effects, prognosis and costs of retinal vein occlusion complicated with macular edema, so as to find potential problems and influencing factors and explore the best clinical treatment regimen.

Objective To understand the level of reproductive concern in gynecological cancer patients, and explore its status and influencing factors. Methods Reproductive Concerns after Cancer Scale(RCACs)and Self-perceived Burden Scale for Cancer Patients(SPBS-CP)were collected from 134 gynecologic cancer patients. Results Average RCAC score in gynecological cancer patients was 48.88±13.59.SPBS-CP score was 50.92±17.38.There were differences in reproductive concern levels among patients in different groups(age, willingness to bear children, number of children, content of communication, and self-perceived burden level)(P<0.01).Self-perceived burden and all dimensions were positively correlated with reproductive concern(P< 0.01). After multiple linear regression analysis:Fertility willingness and self-perceived burden were important independent influencing factors of reproductive concern in gynecological cancer patients(P< 0.01).Conclusion Gynecological cancer patients reproductive concern is above medium level. Attention should be paid to those with reproductive needs and heavy self-perceived burden. Taking effective measures to reduce the self-perceived burden of patients through the joint efforts of the government, the hospital and the family can alleviate their reproductive concern.

Advances on recurrence of secondary hyperparathyroidism after parathyroidectomy
    JIN Qiu, LIANG Yulong
Journal of Hebei Medical College for Continuing Education    2022, 39 (1): 41-48.   DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1674-490X.2022.01.006
    Abstract267)      PDF(pc) (471KB)(198)       Save
Disturbance of calcium and phosphorus metabolism in chronic renal failure patients with long-term dialysis can cause compensatory hyperplasia of parathyroid gland and the increase of intact parathyroid hormone(iPTH)known as renal hyperparathyroidism(HPT)or secondary hyperparathyroidism(SHPT),clinical manifestations can include high parathyroidin, high calcium or hypocalcemia, and persistent high phosphorus. It can lead to diseases of skeletal system, neuropsychiatric system, blood system and cardio-cerebrovascular system, seriously affecting the quality of life and life span. The 2017 Global Guidelines for Kidney Disease recommend Chronic Kidney Disease(CKD)stage 3-5 complicated with severe hyperparathyroidism that does not respond to drug therapy, and parathyroidectomy is recommended. The problem of postoperative recurrence rate affects the further promotion of surgery. Although ultrasound and radionuclide scanning techniques have become more sophisticated in the past few years, it is still not possible to ensure complete preoperative localization of all parathyroids, especially those with less hyperplasia. The recurrence rate of subtotal resection and total resection plus autologous transplantation is higher than that of total resection, so total resection is more recommended for the prevention of recurrence. In addition, the improvement of preoperative localization, thymotomy, intraoperative parathyroid hormone monitoring and intraoperative nerve monitoring also contributed to the reduction of postoperative recurrence.

Objective To investigate the effect of ginsenoside Rg1 on the proliferation of adriamycin(ADR)-resistant K562/ADR cells in human chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)and its reversal of drug resistance in K562/ADR cells. Methods CCK-8 assay was used to detect the effects of different concentrations of ginsenoside Rg1 on the proliferation of K562/ADR cells. CCK-8 assay was used to detect the effects of ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR on the proliferation of K562/ADR cells, and the half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)and reversal fold were calculated. Colony formation assay was used to detect the effects of ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR on the colony formation ability of K562/ADR cells. Flow cytometry was used to detect the effects of ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR on the cell cycle of K562/ADR cells. Results Compared with the control group, the proliferation inhibition rate of K562/ADR cells treated with 120 μg/ml ginsenoside Rg1 for 48 h was significantly increased(P<0.001). Compared with the ADR alone group, the IC50 value of ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR for 48 h decreased significantly in K562/ADR cells(P<0.05), and the fold reversal of ginsenoside Rg1 resistance to K562/ADR cells was 2.34. Compared with the control group and ADR or ginsenoside Rg1 alone group, ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR could significantly inhibit K562/ADR cell colony formation(P<0.05). Compared with the ADR or ginsenoside Rg1 alone group, ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR could arrest the cell cycle in G0/G1 phase. Conclusion Ginsenoside Rg1 combined with ADR can significantly inhibit the proliferation of K562/ADR cells and reverse the resistance of K562/ADR cells to ADR, which may be related to the cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 phase.

Journal of Hebei Medical College for Continuing Education    2022, 39 (2): 16-23.   DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1674-490X.2022.02.003
    Abstract257)      PDF(pc) (496KB)(185)       Save
Vasculogenic mimicry is a special model of angiogenesis. This structure is composed of tumor cells instead of traditional endothelial cells, and provides nutrition for tumor growth, invasion and metastasis. In recent years, it has been found that vasculogenic mimicry is related to the prognosis, invasion, metastasis and drug resistance of many kinds of malignant tumors. It is generally believed that vasculogenic mimicry and angiogenesis depend on some common mechanisms. And some people believe that the formation of vasculogenic mimicry is one of the reasons leading to the development of resistance to anti-angiogenic drugs. The mechanism of vasculogenic mimicry in breast cancer, including related signaling pathways, as well as tumor stem cells, epithelial mesenchymal and anti angiogenesis therapy, are reviewed. The significance and future direction of vasculogenic mimicry as a therapeutic target for breast cancer will be prospected.
